Do You Love Chocolate? Here’s Some Healthy ways to enjoy a choccie fix this Easter.

If you are looking for some healthy chocolate treats for Easter add a packet of raw organic cacao powder to your shopping list next week and give these ideas from a try.
Organic raw cacao powder is pure and unrefined, unlike chocolate, it contains zero sugar or milk. With a tempting aroma, raw cacao powder contains vitamins, minerals, fibre and essential fatty acids. It has a delightful, chocolate flavour and cacao powder has absolutely no chemicals, no hexane and no solvents.

Raw cacao is commonly used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine.
The amino acid Tryptophan found in cacao enhances relaxation and promotes better sleep.

Some Ideas Using Cacao From
Cacao Pistachio Cake – these taste so good your friends and family won’t believe that they are clean.
100g ground almonds
150g raw pistachios
3 tbsp cacao powder
170g grass fed organic butter (Kerry Gold)
125g stevia or xylitol (ground to icing sugar consistency)
21g organic almond butter (Meridian)
5 large eggs
Optional to finish
2tbsp ground pistachios
2tbsp cacao nibs
Preheat oven to 180c or gas mark 3.5-4
Grind Stevia or Xylitol until it is smooth like a powder
Grind the raw pistachios until consistency is the same as the ground almonds
In a basin mix in all the dry ingredients then add in softened butter and almond butter
Mix using a hand held mixer then mix in the eggs one by one
Place the mixed into a lined baking tray 30cm x 20cm
Sprinkle on the ground pistachios and cacao nibs
Bake on the middle shelf for 17-20 minutes
Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the tray.​
Hot Chocolate With Cauliflower – Yes you’ve read it right, I’ve tried it and its really nice, you can’t taste the cauliflower at all it just gives the hot chocolate a thicker texture and you get the added health benefits of from the cauliflower.
250ml of almond milk
200g of steamed or boiled cauliflower
2 tsp raw cacao powder

1 tsp organic almond butter

Cook the cauliflower, warm the milk then whizz all the ingredients together.


Guilt free Chocolate Mousse – this is quite possibly the quickest, simplest, tastiest Chocolate Mousse there is, with the added benefits of Chia.
Serves 4
1 large ripe avocado
6 tsp raw cacao powder
300ml unsweetened almond milk
3 tsp Xylitol
1 tsp natural vanilla essence
3 tsp Chia Seed
Flaked almonds
Purée the avocado, cacao powder, xylitol, unsweetened almond milk until combined.
Stir in the Chia Seeds and mix well.
Transfer the mousse to individual bowls and store in the fridge for at least 20 mins or until ready to eat.
Top with flaked almonds.​
Almondlicious Balls –  great for an after dinner choccie fix.

Ingredients (makes 9 balls)

6 medjool dates

100g of Almond Butter (I used meridian)

1 tbsp. cacao powder

2 tbsp. Chia seeds

9 Almonds

Chopped Almonds


Stone Dates and blend with almond butter and cacao powder to make a smooth paste

Stir chia seeds

Roll into palm sized balls add a whole almond to each ball and roll in chopped almonds & store in an air tight container.

Cacao Chia Maria – contains a wealth of minerals and healthy fats that will provide you with an energy boost.
​Cacao Chia Maria
3 tsp of Chia seeds
Fresh berries
Fresh mint
2 tsp desiccated coconut
2 tsp cacao
1 tsp virgin coconut oil
1/2 tsp stevia or xylitol (optional)
100ml water
Place the chia seeds in a bowl with the cacao powder, desiccated coconut, virgin coconut oil and stevia or xylitol if you are using it, Then pour in half a mug of warm water. Stir thoroughly and then leave to stand for 5 minutes, then stir again if it feels too thick add a little more warm water. Pour into a serving dish and top with fresh berries and a mint.
Chocolate Breakfast Bake – perfect start to the day bursting with protein and healthy fats.
1 large egg
1 banana
3 tbsp of gluten free porridge oats
1 tbsp cacao powder
1 tbsp desiccated coconut
2 tsp ground cinnamon
A splash of unsweetened almond milk
2 tsp xylitol or stevia (optional)
Cacao nibs for topping (optional)
Whizz all the ingredients together in a bullet or blender, pour into an oven proof dish that has been lined with virgin coconut oil. Pop into a preheated oven and cook at 200 degrees for around 25 minutes, grab a spoon and tuck in!
